D2D IT Services Resolves LAN Automation and Firewall Configuration Issues for technology solutions provider

Customer Overview

Our client, a prominent technology solutions provider, approached D2D IT Services to resolve critical issues affecting their LAN automation and firewall configurations. With a complex network infrastructure in place, technology solutions provider’s Development Areas were experiencing connectivity challenges that impacted performance and delayed deployment timelines. They required expert assistance to streamline their LAN automation processes and optimize firewall configurations for secure and reliable network operations.

Problem

Our client was facing difficulties with LAN automation switches, which resulted in inconsistent network behavior and reduced efficiency. In addition, their firewall configuration required precise routing and proper rules to ensure seamless connectivity and high availability between multiple ISPs.

The misconfiguration posed a significant risk to the network’s stability, security, and overall performance. With multiple ISPs and complex network requirements, technology solutions providers needed a solution that ensured both redundancy and security while maintaining optimal connectivity.

Action

D2D IT Services mobilized a team of network and firewall specialists to address these challenges and implement a robust solution. Our approach involved:

Detailed Assessment and Analysis:

Conducted a thorough review of the existing LAN automation setup on switches to identify configuration gaps and inconsistencies.

Reviewed the firewall configurations, static routes, and security/NAT policies to identify areas for improvement.

Firewall Configuration and Optimization:

Configured default static routes for both ISP gateways to ensure failover and redundancy.

Set up IP SLA (Service Level Agreement) monitoring to automatically route traffic in case of a primary link failure.

Developed and implemented Dynamic NAT rules, ensuring seamless connectivity and optimized traffic flow.

DMZ and Site-Specific Firewall Rules:

Defined and configured the required number of DMZ VLAN ports for the ESXi cluster on WAN Edge.

Created detailed site-specific firewall rules and documented them in the updated Low-Level Design (LLD).

Added missing NAT Destination Translated IPs to the LLD to enable proper service mapping and routing.

Collaborative Implementation and Testing:

Collaborated closely with the client’s internal teams during implementation to ensure that all changes were aligned with their overall network architecture.

Performed comprehensive testing to validate the configurations, ensuring that the new setup met all redundancy, security, and performance requirements.

Results

D2D IT Services successfully resolved LAN automation issues and optimized their firewall configuration, resulting in enhanced network stability, improved redundancy and failover, streamlined security and compliance, and clear documentation. All changes were thoroughly documented in the updated LLD, providing technology solutions provider’s team with a clear reference for future operations.

Conclusion

D2D IT Services’ deep expertise in network automation and firewall management enabled the client to overcome complex configuration challenges, optimize their network performance, and achieve a stable and secure environment. Our tailored approach and collaborative execution ensured minimal disruption and a smooth transition to the new setup.

With D2D IT Services as their trusted partner, the client is now well-positioned to expand their development operations and focus on driving innovation without worrying about network reliability or security.
